Why I should believe in God
Introduction
The idea of the existence of God and belief can be traced back to the Darwin’s theory of evolution in which man undergoes evolution and attain thinking. Evolution resulted in senses that allow and direct an individual to observe everything and look for a reason. Rationality is one of the attributes that has resulted in almost all the progression in the world because there would be no invention without rationality (Smith). All inventions, all machines, and all mechanics are the product of thinking that attract human vision to justify answers or solutions towards a problem weather it is associated with religion or it is worldly. The rationality ranges from the existence of phenomena to the ideology that is meant to resolve the problem. All religions are described under the impact of “belief” that is used in several different ways and each of the ways is equally justifying. Belief varies from a hunch to a staunch belief that directs people to rely on something which has no solution at all but it eventually gets resolved (Schoenfield pp. 277-295). Belief is a set of ideologies that direct human beings to think about others, leaving oneself behind and it is the same notion that is somewhere keeping the world in order because without belief, people would become Gods themselves and it is enough to drag this world to destruction and threats (Smith). In a simplified form of mind, regardless of any nuance, belief is a fundamental “mental” process that is used by people to either believe or disbelieve something. The question, “Why should I believe in God” is also associated with the belief system because the world appears to an individual as per the measure and paradigms of the vision. In the same way, there are ample resources of knowledge for those who seek such as “seeking the existence of God”. There are different notions and objectives that are associated with the assertion of believing in God.
Discussion
People have been believing in different Gods and religions since the formation of this planet and through ages. There are a lot of schools of thought who find the idea of God and religion as something that never existed. Even in today’s time, there are a lot of schools of thought that are presented every now and then and in different versions defying or believing in God. In playgroups and initial classes, it is taught to be good to others because it is something that is divine and it earns happiness because it pleases God. It generates questions like, what is happiness (Mercier pp. 263-268). Who gives happiness? What is divine etc.? With the passage of time, the ideas and belief of goodness and divinity are replaced by an introduction to different types of religion. Where sometimes, Greek mythology fascinates nature, other times one is encountered by the facts and figures that are argued by Greek philosophers. In the same flow, one comes to undergo self-analysis that behooves to think: who is controlling human beings and universe, world, and worldly affairs with such perfection? (Mercier pp. 263-268). All such notions and assumptions direct to the idea of religion and then the analysis that reflects Why should I believe God?
Religion is defined as a collection of beliefs that have some divine association. It determines the area of practice of human beings in terms of that association. There are about 4200 religions in the world and each of the religion has some specific ideology regarding the existence of God, some supreme power that is all-knowing and all existing (Mercier pp. 263-268). It would not be wrong to say that there are different beliefs and ideologies that are associated with religion, paving the way for a critical analysis of “existence” (Rosenbaum pp.147-154). Every human being, at one point in his life thinks about the idea of God, that why or why not to believe that there exists a God? Although there are different ideologies and assertions made in different holy books, still, it is necessary to have a view on why I should believe in God; is there something that actually exists and rules the world? Is there an existence that is divine and magical, ever-loving? All such questions pave the way for analyzing everything that surrounds an individual ranging from nature to human beings and other natural phenomena that are affecting either directly or indirectly the life of an individual. These and others such beliefs are termed as mystifying for some while others find them as a way to live. There are justifications for those who seek, in the same way, all the logics are self-defying in the vision of non-believers, asserting that this argument is prevalent for many years and it will persist for long (Mercier pp. 263-268).
Approach of philosophy
Philosophy is one of the domains whose larger area is concerned with the studies of wisdom that discusses faith, belief and religions. It is asserted that the major proposition of the philosophy of religion is more like stress on studying theism. Theism circulates around the speculation of some divine attributes that are found in theistic transition and they are termed as “perfect being theology”, under which God is understood as an existence that is unsurpassable in its greatness. The work of philosophers such as David Hume, Alvin Plantinga, and Ludwig Wittgenstein have contributed much to the philosophy of the existence of God (Mercier pp. 263-268). According to them, the life of an individual is based on some basic beliefs and those beliefs have no good arguments. Such beliefs are the product of experiences of this world such as natural process, the progression of life, world and types of beings in the world. However, religion is something that is observed and enforced in the form of evidence. It is not compulsory that the evidence would be compact and concrete, this evidence can either be a simple observation or a notion that requires a minor shift in the thought. Although there is no strong argument and approach that could help me assert the instinct that there is someone who is out there with all powers, but my personal approach to philosophy directs me to think that minor phenomenon such as happiness, sadness, hard work, rewards are something that are imparted and regulated (Rosenbaum pp.147-154). There is no one in this world who is deprived and neglected by the Almighty. While humans only tend to themselves so, there is someone who is "Other" and has a check that doesn't let anyone being left behind even in the hardest of the times.
Universal Approach
Taking a universal approach that is void of all observations and derivations incorporated by familial relationships, it is highlighted that sometimes, in darkest of hours and the minors of the moments, thought is diverted to a point where all senses direct to believe that there is someone who is out there, having a watch because the way world proceeds can’t be autonomous (Rosenbaum pp.147-154). It is also analyzed that “fault” and “flaw" are one of the core properties of everything that exist in this world but nature is flawless. It encourages the notion that there is something that has the power to keep everything in place, and in order (Rosenbaum pp.147-154). I should believe in God because I see this world in complete order, each event is followed by the other and every scenario is a result or response to the other, varying over time.
Analyzing World
One of the common examples is "the Earth". It is a planet that has a perfect size. The existence of millions and trillions of types of individuals on the planet and the sources of nutrition of each of the individual is a clear depiction of the existence of divine power that is managing everything. The complexity of the planet asserts that creativity is not just confined to the creation but also to the sustenance of the world in a highly perfect way. The earth is of just perfect size, there is a thick layer of nitrogen and oxygen around it that only extends up to 50 km (Temple). If the size of the earth were smaller, then there would be no life on the planet because atmosphere would be impossible, however, if the planet was too large then there would be free hydrogen on the planet, much like Jupiter. It is asserted that there is someone who is all knowing and ever clear about the ideas regarding this world. As Albert Einstein said, “I believe in God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of the universe". This asserts that if a great scientist is convinced that there is someone who is a perfect architect then a lay man should also accept the fact that the natural process is always spontaneous, it cannot be controlled without proper systems but the systems of the universe are perfect in their own way (Temple). Even, the instance of the planet Earth from the Sun also deciphers the art of nature that has designed this world as a system full of coordination. The same example can be seen in terms of the moon that is seen sighting and disappearing at the interval and with a routine that is never found to be disturbed. Season is another example that asserts the existence of God because it is not possible for the natural systems to be working in such a synchronized way on their own, coming and going at the perfect timing and following a procedure (Temple). The flawless patterns of nature behoove to believe in the existence of God because there is no error and conflict that has ever occurred. In fact, the natural system is a motivation for a lot of people to make a decision and try to control procedures that are occurring on this planet (Temple).
Common Observations
Humans are one of the wondrous creation of this world because there is no other being similar to them. Human beings have the potential to control and interfere with the process of nature and self-design phenomenon that can facilitate human beings in the long run. It is asserted that human beings have a well-designed and well-created structure that is self-asking for praise and ultimately the praise to the one who has created such a beautiful thing. Then comes the system of human beings. There is no external control, still the various processes of human beings are working on their own and they are so hard and complex that even in 21-century, scientists with almost all the types of instruments are still studying the human body completely. The coding of DNA, reproduction process, digestive system and even minor organs such as a nail assert that there exists someone who is managing the regeneration of nails and the flow of heartbeat even when one is sleeping (Krause pp. 41-55). If all these procedures are considered and termed as unnatural and self-regulatory, there are hundreds and thousands of books that assert and direct thought to the idea that there is someone who is maintaining everything in this world. Theist is contradictory to the intelligent believer who asserts that absurd position is much easy to display because all that is required is, to negate millions of scenarios and procedure to point the battery of any of the demanding minds who are already guided and driven by a debunk vision and notion. Although it is assumed that any of the great minds will be effective, the safest side that is actually adopted, infers to stick with the scientist who questions the existence of God on the basis of some specific approach, ignoring the visible and already available phenomena, that leads to nowhere. It is asserted that great mentalist and wise people such as Michael Faraday and Isaac Newton believed that there is a power that is divine and has control of this world (Krause pp. 41-55). If the ideologies proposed by historical figures are considered, it is highlighted that the scientific arguments are one of the poorest and lame versions of the judgments about the existence of God because, over the 400 years, the approach towards science and God has been entirely changed. Such incomplete evaluations pave the way for observations such as: “Are human merely mistake of God or is God merely a mistake of human beings” (Krause pp. 41-55).
It is also important to note that there are a lot of scientists who have written extensively about the arguments that might be vague in the present time. Many of the researchers and scientists have written about the interplay between science and faith but they were responded with skepticism by the people of that time and it describes the unclear understanding and incomplete follow up with the beliefs and ideologies of that time. Moreover, major schools of thought and scientific frameworks such as The Standard Big Bang Model of cosmic origin, when evaluated in terms of space, matter and time has brought a shift in ideologies that are associated with the religious side (Krause pp. 41-55). After going through all these aspects and notions of great men, it is asserted that there is no strong and staunch argument which can act as a foundation for laying down the formation of some well-understood ideologies about religion and God. Such observation affirms, “Small amount of philosophy leads to atheism, but a large amount of philosophy brings us back to God”. It is inferred that the existence of God is a universal and personal ideology that varies from individual to individual and from one societal group to the other
Societal Affairs and the existence of God
Having a look at society, it is highlighted that society is more like a domain that directs and restores beliefs regarding the existence of God. There are several notions and observations that guide to believe in God, the management of societal orders, societal role, how people are bound to some obligations and how they are performing it with full expertise. There are several religions and beliefs followed by different people who enforce the existence of God such as the field of Christians especially Catholics (Krause pp. 41-55). It has such a strong essence that without Christianity, there would not have been any approach to Baroque or Gothic architecture, there would be no Renaissance painting and there would be no approach to music and empirical scientific methods. The evaluation of social-economic strata suffers very less from different societal demerits such as abuse, diverse depression, drugs and abuse that would have brought massive destruction to the society and the societal framework. Society begins with individualism who are aligned with the code of conduct, familial relationship, the selfless attitude of parents, the love of friends and the kind support of people knowing that they won’t get anything in return (Krause pp. 41-55). It highlights that there is God who has made and beautified all the relationship with some specific attributes to beautify the world. Being a member of society different observation can be noted that range from the working to human consciousness to the laws of mathematics that are keeping and maintaining social law and order. Within a society, there are several areas and departments to consider such as brutality, positivity, peace conflicts and then the issues that are associated with the injustice (Krause pp. 41-55). In a simplified form, Karma is one of the best ideas or ideologies that made me believe that God exists because I have seen the histories and stories of rising and fall. Karma is one of the most realistic visions that behooves to believe the existence of God because if there would be no supreme power to judge right and wrong then the world would have crushed the poor and powerless under their ruthless laws and regulations. Moreover, the regulation of minor objectives has the power and resources that are distributed in a hierarchy and the sustenance of those who have nothing also behooves to assert that there is someone who is embracing enough to take steps that can keep the lower class alive by keeping higher class free while keeping them in a supreme control (Krause pp. 41-55).
I should believe in God because I am a direct audience to the cycles of birth and death, the journey of a man from childhood to adulthood and then to adulthood which is more like a restoration of childhood again. Another major ideology that makes me believe in God is the world itself. It is a common observation that despite a lot of mishaps and disasters, there is still a hope that keeps us going, this hope is a belief and belief in God. In every problem, there comes an utterance right from the depth of the heart that seeks help from someone and that someone is God which is present when there is no one besides, who listens when there is a vacuum around and who shows His power when the powers of a man are failed to its depth. Another approach that is associated with belief in God is that of the unplanned planner. This planner is working autonomously but it is in synchronization with that of human being, this planner is found in all the dimension and departments of life ranging from the structure of the human body to the external factors that are bringing different kinds of seasons and then influencing people to react to the stimuli that they receive (Schoenfield pp. 277-295)
Conclusion
Taking into account the impact of universal, ethical, rational and philosophical approaches guided by personal analysis, it is asserted that I should believe in God because none of the intellectual and philosophical approaches has ever been able to justify the synchronization of the natural process that is extremely flawless. I should believe in God because every single thing in this world, both animate and non-animate speaks of a designer who is all-knowing and all expert, having the intellectual to keep every complex procedure simple and add complexity to the simplest of the procedure such as vision. I should believe in God because none of the human intelligence has the ability to balance the ethical and moral approach, there is someone who keeps everyone hopeful even in the lost moments of life. There is someone who is all humanitarian to address and mitigate the sorrows of dejected and rejected. There is someone whom my consciousness consult when I am not in my senses and my consciousness exclaim, “O Lord!” and the feeling of satisfaction that keeps me going even in the worst of times asserts that I should believe in God.
