The cell phone has become the adult's transitional object, replacing the toddler's teddy bear for comfort and a sense of belonging. (Margaret Heffernan)
In the contemporary era, technology has dominated each walk of life. From adults to children, everyone is advancing to utilize technology. There have been both the positive and negative aspects of technology. The possession of mobile phones has become pervasive even in children and is worth examining the need.
Thesis Statement – Children under 10 must not be allowed to own a cellphone because it will be a waste of time, they will be exposed to cyber threats and may reflect poor academic performance and health issues.
I. First Main Point – A waste of Time
A. Playing games and using other applications persistently
B. Refraining from donating time to recreational and healthy activities
When children become habitual of using mobile phones, they prefer not to play in the
garden or ride a bicycle with friends.
The physical activities gradually begin to perish.
C. Establishing detrimental habits at the early age
Research has proved the usage of mobile phone makes the person addicted to an
immense extent. If children under 10 become addicted to mobile phones, they may

In the contemporary era, the social media platforms are harnessed to bully or embarrass the children based on their physical appearance, race and ethnicity. Moreover, the children under 10 are immature and lack the necessary guidance and experience to stay away from the crooks on the internet.
C. Getting scammed by the scammers or being looted by crooks
Entering credit card details of parents without their consent.
III. Third Main Point – Poor Academic Performance and Health Issues
A. Using social media platforms instead of studying at home
B. Using a cell phone in the class and not paying attention to the teacher
Children need to establish healthy and productive habits. Suffering from severe mental disorders at an early age
Various studies have proved excessive use of the mobile phone causes a person to suffer from numerous mental disorders. Children under 10 are still in the development phase and thus are prone to receiving grave impacts of possessing a mobile phone. They may establish the radical habit of scrolling on the screen regardless of the need or interest.
Conclusion –
Children under 10 must not be allowed to own a cellphone because it will be a waste of time, they will be exposed to cyber threats and may reflect poor academic performance and health issues.
The possession of mobile by children under makes them vulnerable to scams and being a victim of cyberbullying. Besides, the academic performance and health are also affected because of donating an excessive amount of time to the usage of mobile phone.
After my marriage, I shall never give my child a mobile phone before 15. It reflects my commitment to defying the usage of mobile phones among toddlers and it is imperative to ensure their healthy growth and development
