Importance of water in the body
Water is the most essential substance required by the body so that it can operate optimally. The amount of water that one requires depends on a number of factors. The factors can range from age, sex, and climate as well the physical status of a person. The functions of water have clearly been outline in the post. They include: digestion, breathing and the maintenance of body cells so that each one of them can perform its functions. The characteristics of water contribute to the functions that they do in the body. Without water, it is not possible to survive. Water in body fluids like saliva help in processes like chewing that might not be possible without the presence of water. Lack of water in the body is associated with diseases like arthritis, pain of the joins and back pain (Laskey, 2015). Proteins-monomer/polymers, types and functions
Among the nutrients in the nutrients in the body, the most versatile of them all is protein. It can be used for a variety of functions in the body. The most conventional way of reasoning is that proteins are body builders that help an individual to grow big and strong. They can either be classified as monomers or polymers depending on the nature in which they are. There are some which are simple in structure while others have a complex structure. The simple ones take the simplest form of amino acids and mainly formed by few numbers of amino acids and are called monomers. The complex ones have more amino acids joined in a different way from that of the monomers and are called polymers (Saladin, 2018). The functions of proteins in the body include regulation of the expression of genes and transportation of substances within the body among others.
