Health history
Cardiovascular diseases refer to a variety of illnesses that affect our heart. Illnesses under the heart disease umbrella comprises of diseases related to blood vessels, coronary heart vessels and heart-related birth defects (Valdez, Greenlund, Khoury, Yoon, 2007). It is often termed as heart failure or heart disease which is generally linked with other conditions such as chest pain, stroke, hypertension and high cholesterol level (Loomba, Abraham, Unalp, Wilson, Lavina, Doo, 2012). These conditions increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in a person.
Health history assessment
Various factors are positively associated with cardiovascular disorders. Only clinical considerations would be discussed here.
Cultural and developmental considerations
Unhealthy lifestyles, junk food consumption, and family history are significantly associated with cardiovascular diseases (Woodward, Pedoe, 2007). High blood pressure, obesity, physical inactivity, high cholesterol level, smoking, and drinking also increases the chances of cardiovascular disease in a person.
Psychosocial considerations
Certain psychosocial factors subsidize the pathogenesis of heart-related disease. This field has headed towards the advancement of a new field of cardiovascular disorders (Hunt, Gwinn, Adams, 2003). The epidemiological and pathophysiological studies have identified a robust link among numerous psychosocial factors that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Certain noteworthy factors including anxiety, aggression, job stress, poor communal support positively increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases (Harrison, Hindorff, Kim, Bowen, 2003). In current years, additional psychosocial risk factors are stress, trauma, and other mental health issues.
Review of system
Generally, the evidence from different studies has suggested that multiple adaptable lifestyle elements are of utmost importance in improving the healthy lifestyle of a person. Population-wide cardiac disease risk decrease is possible at the primary and secondary level of healthcare facilities (Harrison, Hindorff, Kim, Bowen, 2003). Efforts to upturn the prevalence of defensive lifestyle changes are required to improve the health of a person. The adults with a progressive family history indicate a significantly greater probability of acquiring the disease. Medical history of a person and family history should be the methodology to monitor children at risk of cardiovascular disease. This screening should be a part of prevention promotions intended to decrease the burden of cardiovascular diseases in children.
