Quality Management
Providing quality healthcare to patients is essential for them to recover fully. Quality management in healthcare ensures that the patients have received treatment that is high in standard and convenience. Healthcare organizations are responsible for healthcare organizations and their management. This course proved to be very beneficial, and I learned the quality improvement activities that take place between the payers of the healthcare and the providers.
All the topics covered in this course from the quality improvement rationale, quality improvement processes their orientation to the statistical control and clinical practice guidelines, all were really informative and well delivered. It has helped me expand my knowledge in healthcare in hospitals and clinics to the other industrial aspects of healthcare. But in my opinion the most compelling topic the course was quality strategies and tools. And this was one of the most difficult topic, and I had a hard time in taking grasp over its concepts. But class discussions helped me a lot in clarifying the topic. Discussions helped me in understanding the topic from various angles, which expanded my views on the subject ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"XBTRnAFr","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Lighter & Fair, 2004)","plainCitation":"(Lighter & Fair, 2004)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":1451,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/KZl8ZL3A/items/QEYTJ39P"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/KZl8ZL3A/items/QEYTJ39P"],"itemData":{"id":1451,"type":"book","title":"Quality Management in Health Care: Principles and Methods","publisher":"Jones & Bartlett Learning","number-of-pages":"606","source":"Google Books","abstract":"Now in its second edition, Quality Management in Health Care: Principles and Methods addresses the mounting pressure on the health care industry to control costs while providing the highest quality care and services. In doing so, it provides students with a solid foundation in the implementation of quality improvement activities and the tools necessary to evaluate and improve their efforts toward quality of care. With an emphasis on general theory and practical applications, the text delineates the techniques that form the basis of quality management in medicine, such as group processes, process orientation, statistical process control, and statistical techniques. A clear and concise writing style and effective use of examples, illustrations, and case studies elucidate the complex topics presented in the text.","ISBN":"978-0-7637-3218-9","note":"Google-Books-ID: K2Y9dYesmLQC","shortTitle":"Quality Management in Health Care","language":"en","author":[{"family":"Lighter","given":"Donald"},{"family":"Fair","given":"Douglas C."}],"issued":{"date-parts":[["2004",2,24]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"} (Lighter & Fair, 2004).
I have also listened to the weekly live chat. These chats played significant role in answering the underlying unsorted questions from my mind. The great feature of these chats was that it helps you find an answer to your query without any time delay. Sometimes other students used to ask the questions that I never thought off, which helped me in forming my in-depth concepts about quality management in healthcare.
I think every aspect of all topics was approached positively and helped to decode the topic. In the end of this course, I don't think any topic needs clarification. For obtaining information regarding different topics I took help from the online articles and scholarly journals.
