Prior to watching the video, I nurtured similar belief about the homeless people as expressed by the public at the start of the video. The poor people living on streets, boxes and bushes were deemed the homeless people by me. However, the video offers critical insight into the manifestations of homelessness. There are certain homeless people we come across our daily lives. They seem like other common members of the community. They are the ones who own a car but they might be living in it. The car is perhaps their only shelter but the society fails even to observe the plight they are faced with.

Such grave is the manifestation of homeless people in the society. Several causes contribute to the homelessness of such members of society. They may have lost the job, burdened by a loan or faced with an unfortunate incident in their life. Society fails to address their grievances under the influence of perception of poverty as the fate of a person. The video highlights several people who shared similar stories. Besides, a critical appraisal of the instances and perspectives underpinned in the video reveal that poverty is not merely a state of mind. I also foster similar dogmas. For several individuals, the very essence of poverty lies at the heart of blaming the persons and acquitting the society of having any role in their impoverishment. This is certainly not the case.

In addition, the primary factor contributing to homelessness and poverty is the social structure. This structure pertains to holding the society responsible for creating an environment which accelerates the culture and spread of poverty. It is, irrefutably, an intricate social phenomenon. America is home to one of the most independent cultures in the world. A wide range of Americans perceives others in regards to their values, preferences, traits and decisions. It causes the attribution of an unfavourable prospect, like poverty, towards the individuals. The most prominent element contributing to pervasive poverty is the structural influence. For instance, inequality and lack of opportunities are the common menaces prevalent in society. If a person advances to abrogate these differences embedded in the root of the social structure, the phenomenon of poverty can be addressed in true letter and spirits.

Furthermore, the contribution of social workers is instrumental. The criminal justice system holds certain places for social workers and they can potentially impact the menaces of poverty. It is worthy of mentioning that the crucial practice is the smooth integration of the incarcerated people in society. It may require efforts as housing assistance and counseling. Several people confront the unfortunate incidents that take a severe toll on their minds. If these people are supported through emotional and mental assistance, they can be saved from facing the detrimental consequences and advanced towards a prosperous life. Thus, the influence of social workers is of paramount importance. The government has directed the efforts to contribute towards the enhancement of domestic issues as healthcare and education. However, the very challenge of eliminating poverty and homelessness has been largely left unaddressed. It is explicitly reflected in the allocation of resources and wealth by the stakeholders and the policymakers.
