The political and religious values are apparent in Antigone and Trial of Socrates. In Antigone the religious values are visible as Peter remains obedient to God. The religious aspects indicates that Jesus was arrested by a religious leader who was the apostle. The values of Peter are discernible as he believed that denying Jesus is sin. His religious values convinced him to believe that he has a duty to follow the orders of God and refrain from committing sin. The family values are also visible in Antigone as Sophocles explored his responsibility. The moral decision of Antigone was also made under influence of family values that emphasized on staying loyal to relations. The relationship of Antigone with her uncle exhibits the deeper role of such values. She believes that Creon is the king and he has a duty to follow his orders. When Creon asks her if she had broken the law she couldn’t lie due to her acceptance of duty. The political values in Trial of Socrates are different because they emphasize on democracy and liberalism. The political values stresses on freedom and liberty for the people. Socrates developed family values that convinced him to stay good to family and friends. The family values are similar in Antigone and Trial of Socrates.
The political values in Trial of Socrates are still applicable in current society where people enjoy liberty and democracy. These ancient works still have relevance with current world because they offer insights about family values. These values are the building blocks for the creation of a civilized and organized society. Similarly, democracy gives people equal rights to live in the society. These values can free the society from injustice and unfairness. Family values are of great significance for holding families together.
