Natural Disasters
Throughout the world, four countries named Bangladesh, China, Japan, and the Philippines are more vulnerable to natural disasters than any other place. In this regard, these countries are considered the riskiest countries of the world as floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, wildfires, volcanoes, and landslides hit many parts of these countries frequently. Philippine has eight riskiest places out of the top 10 in the world (Hyndman, Hyndman, 2016). The country is exposed to Natural disasters and calamities due to poor administration and failure to cope with natural hazard events. Also, Japan, Bangladesh, and China are equally prone to disasters as a major chunk of population inhabited the areas exposed to floods, earthquakes, and storms. In addition, Bangladesh is popularly low-lying and has a threat of sea-level rise (Keller DeVecchio, 2016). Furthermore, the tsunami in Japan and typhoon in the Philippines demonstrated that natural disasters affect the areas that are not directly vulnerable to calamity.
New Orleans in the United States is one of the most vulnerable areas in the world. Many U.S. organizations have suppliers in risky areas, and American investors have made an investment in those regions, the U.S. is the second most vulnerable country to natural disasters in terms of economy. United States, Japan, India, China, and Taiwan are the top five countries with financial risk.
Moreover, people should not be allowed to habitat in the areas prone to natural disasters because human lives are more important than anything else. The governments and the authorities should employ all their resources to accommodate all their population in safe zones. Those who do not have resources to move to areas other than regions prone to natural disasters, its the responsibility of governments to make arrangements for such people. However, in developing countries, often governments do not have enough resources to relocate population in relatively safer regions still the authorities should utilize all their resources to drive people away from risky places. It is understandable that people also stay at vulnerable locations for economic reasons, but the onus is on the government and officials to ensure the safety of every citizen.
