Dirty Dozen identify the factors that cause human errors at the workplace. Human factors that are more likely to affect the performance of employees include; work fatigue, complacency, pressure, lack of awareness, distraction, stress, lack of resources, lack of knowledge, pressure and assertiveness. It is crucial for companies to address these factors for eliminating human errors. Employees that experience fatigue, stress or pressure face difficulty in concentrating and they are more distracted during work CITATION Obi18 \l 1033 (Nzelu, Chandraharan, & Pereira, 2018). This increases the probability of committing errors.
The topic of Dirty Dozen caught my interest because it provided a clear analysis of the factors that undermine productivity and work efficiency. I believe that human factors are a broader topic and it is focused on addressing the issues that cause human errors and affects the organizational performance negatively CITATION RAh17 \l 1033 (Ahasan, Shahren, Haque, & Islam, 2017). The organizations can learn how they can provide better work conditions to the employees that will contribute to their enhanced productivity.
I have selected the topic because there are many factors that undermine the performance of employees. It highlights how stress and pressure negatively influence the work competency of the workers. Their inability to managing stress can negatively impact the quality of work. It also highlights the need for removing barriers such as lack of awareness, lack of knowledge and lack of resources. Workers who are overworked experience fatigue that also undermines productivity and work efficiency. employees that lack satisfaction encounter issue of low morale that limits their ability to make the best of their potential.
In summary, Dirty Dozen is a useful model for uncovering human factors that affect the performance of employees. In future, the organizations can use this model for improving workers competency and level of engagement.
