Address the following questions, responding to each one directly below the question. Your total word count (including all questions and answers combined) should be between 900-1150 words. Include a reference page.
Describe a time when you experienced a significant period of suffering. How did you deal with that experience? How did you find comfort in the midst of suffering?
The losses of a loved one are a tough time. Recently I lost my father who has always been my inspiration and motivation. He was such a kind person, always supported me both financially and emotionally. He was the head of our family. I lost interest in my life and everything in the world for a few months. I felt sorrow and felt his importance in every situation after his death. Then I studied some spiritual articles which relieved my pain. Through spirituality, we accept that everything God has granted us he takes away for a reason. God has to test our patience, and he will reward us for our loss in the life after death.
Briefly summarize the problem of evil and suffering. Cite and reference the lecture and Chapter 9 in the textbook.
The problem of evil and suffering is that evil always misguides us and keep us away from God by disobeying his orders. He is viewing all our actions and compel us to do wrong doings. From the time of human fall to the earth he is in the struggle to misguide human from the right path. Most of the people are confused in the philosophy of the presence of evil in the world where God is powerful and useful. Evil had the problem which could be related to the contradiction of deity. Deity is the condition of a person who is excellent and full of power. However, he allows evil and suffers through a loss or anything he or she lacks. Humans are weak, and they are not God or deity. God has given us a choice to obey him or disobey, to do something that is good or to commit evil doings. Christians believe that God is mighty and completely good, and he cares so much about humans. Suffering comes in various forms; in some cases, we feel so deeply the pain of the loss of our loved ones. This fact cannot be avoided and denied (Sharpe, 2014). The problem with suffering and evil is deeply rooted within each other. Most people complain that if God loves us then why he let some bad things in this world.
Briefly summarize the Christian worldview’s response to the problem of evil and suffering. Cite and reference the lecture and/or Chapter 9 in the textbook.
Christians believe that evil and suffering has a closed relationship with each other. Suffering causes many mental disorders and discomforts in the people which experiences. Suffering comes like a job comes without our expectations, and have a great impact on our lives. God cares about us and loves us more than everything in the world. The love of God is also unlimited, and he has granted us whatever wanted and give us the freedom to do what we want. Evil compels us to suffer in very negative ways, and push us to isolation, depression, broken relations, and even led us to death. It causes dissatisfaction, and lead a person to many mental problems. The kindness of God is unlimited; even the kindness of Jesus toward his people cannot be measured. Jesus was betrayed by his friends and followers, but still, he was kind to us.
Imagine that a close friend has just suffered through a great personal loss (death of a loved one, natural disaster, disease, job loss, divorce, or a broken relationship) and your friend asks you why God would let such a terrible thing happen. How would you respond to your friend?
My best friend had colon cancer due to this disease; he was very disturbed. I found him in severe pain, he was weakened and lost a job. He spent a lot of money on his treatment. He was suffering from some mental disease because of this major disease. He was depressed for the loss of health, money, and job. He told me that why am I having all these hardships. What was my fault, for which I have been punished? I replied to him that God had blessed us with a lot of things which others don't have. If at a stage of life God tests our patience so we should accept it. All the negative thoughts come from evil, which causes disappointments and affects our health. For every hardship we face here, we will be rewarded in our life after death.
According to Chapter 7 in the textbook, how might the problem of evil and suffering lead one to the conclusion that moral absolutes exist?
God does not act wickedly for sure. It is mentioned in the bible that God doesn't push us to any harm and suffering. The question arises here that if God is not causing us to suffer then who does it. This is because of the evil and influenced by other people. We are facing some hardships due to natural disasters. Some losses are due to test our belief in God, for which we will be rewarded in life after here. The sufferings are because of Satan the evil, who inject different ideas in our mind against God. People who believe that there is no moral and ethical code of conduct for their actions will only see their benefits or losses in every action.
