Film 6
The dark knight rises is undoubtfully one of the most incredible films that had a great impact on people. The scene I selected from “The Dark Knight Rises” is “The Interrogation Scene”. In any film, the scene between a villain and hero is immensely important as it changes the whole dimension of the movie and forms a basis of an incredible climax (Joye, & Walle, 2015).
In this particular scene Joker, the villain demanded to be interrogated by the Batman. A zoom-in shot of Joker’s appearance was taken that reflected his psychotic behavior. At this time of the scene, the whole feel of the movie shifted into terror. When Batman arrived the camera followed the Batman in the interrogation room and then a closing shot of Batman’s eyes was taken that captured his rage. Batman was curious to know the intentions of Joker. However, he was shocked to know that Joker never wanted to kill him. Then a close-up shot of both Batman and Joker was taken in which Joker said to Batman that “ you complete me”. It was this time when the movie dynamics changed increasing terror of what will happen next (Aji, 2018).
For every particular scene in the film, there lies a motivation behind it. Nolan being a James bond fan was highly influenced by the suspense in the James bond book. Specifically discussing this interrogation scene where both hero and villain meet was the result of James bond influence and Nolan’s creativity. Nolan’s motivation behind this particular scene was to create tension that caused mixed feelings among the audience as no one was sure what to expect when two enemies come face to face.
This scene is of immense importance regarding the film as it shows how easily Joker can manipulate people turning them into wild and psychotic like him. Also, how just for his fun he would create havoc in everyone's causing more hurdles for the Batman in the remaining film.
