Application for Pratt’s School of Engineering

When my friend Bipin broke the news that iPhone has introduced the first-ever 3D IR face-scanning features, I was more than amazed. Making of Hovercraft for Science Expo, or designing/coding website had never enthralled me anyway. With his breakthrough by Apple, my mind was awash with accompanying possibilities. What else can be done with this tech other than just biometric security? That was typical me, trying to figure out other possibilities in an invention. Then an idea occurred to me. Why not create an application that could communicate with IR scanning hardware to take an in-depth 3D measurement of the buyer, scale the entire model down and display a 3D model had would produce a view showing the customer wearing the product.

At Duke, I believe that I can achieve this. I want to build a research team in my undergrad, with Pratt’s most intellectual minds, winning the Baquerizo Innovation Grant to bring this idea into life. And also, with Duke’s signature program called Student Entrepreneurship, I want to cultivate an overall entrepreneur mindset based on engineering underpinning. With the expertise of Duke's virtual and augmented reality department, I would have access to the required resources that can help me in the course of achievement of this goal. Duke has everything that I need: resources to exploit, helping hands to push me up and giving me opportunities to shine. So, there is no doubt that Duke is a perfect blend of my requirement for becoming a successful Entrepreneur/Engineer. (249 words)
