Dropout after detoxification is a common problem. How can you help to ensure that patients make the transition into further treatment
Introduction
Detoxification is the withdraw treamnent of heroin and other toxic materials from the body. It is a common treatment process. Retaining after detoxification is of great importance to succeed in this treatment. Decline in rates of herion intake and abuse has been seen in patients enter into further tretments after detoxification ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION citationIDxfQpEXbT,propertiesformattedCitation(Hakansson Halluc0u233n, 2014),plainCitation(Hakansson Halln, 2014),noteIndex0,citationItemsid45,urishttp//zotero.org/users/local/LY9XXHSK/items/BWDSKYCL,urihttp//zotero.org/users/local/LY9XXHSK/items/BWDSKYCL,itemDataid45,typearticle-journal,titlePredictors of dropout from inpatient opioid detoxification with buprenorphine a chart review,container-titleJournal of addiction,volume2014,authorfamilyHakansson,givenAnders,familyHalln,givenEmma,issueddate-parts2014,schemahttps//github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json (Hakansson Halln, 2014).
Ways to ensure that the patients make the transition into further treatment.
The steps after detox is not like recovery. After the completion of any detox that is medically assisted, will further be refered to support groups, rehabilitation centers, and other important setps are followed inorder to have a proper recovery. The treatment done after detoxification is generally divided into two phases, education and counciling. During Counciling the person will idebtify hi/her reasons of using that particular drug while education will let the person know ways of promoting mental health ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION citationIDMGfJ8cZw,propertiesformattedCitation(2018),plainCitation(2018),noteIndex0,citationItemsid48,urishttp//zotero.org/users/local/LY9XXHSK/items/ECGTX9XU,urihttp//zotero.org/users/local/LY9XXHSK/items/ECGTX9XU,itemDataid48,typearticle-journal,titleAddiction Treatment and tagged Detox, authorfamily, givenMike Loverde,issueddate-parts2018,6,7,schemahttps//github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json ( Loverde,2018).
Follow up amnagemnt n and contact with the patient should be managed.Realistic traetmenmt palns need to be discussed with patient, facilitate the patient to enter in self help groups. A maintainance paln be designed inorderr to make sure that the patient wont get addected again. He/she can be tricked by offering revots and gifts for drug free activities. He/ she should be leaded towards spiritual development.
Setting Goals
Future goals should be discussed with the patient along with mainataince palmn and the patience should be motivated to avhieve those goals. This is a kind of neogiation with the patient that will help him/her to recover fully.
2.Naturally matching treatment
After detoxification the cleinet should be asked to opt treatment that will match their personality and the will feel happy to do thsat treastment. It will make that individual happy to continue his/her treatment after detoxification.
3 . Stepepd care should be offered.
Stepped care is a trement where a patient is given treatment on different levels, if one type is not effective the individual is moved to another interesting level. It will motivate patient to overcome drug addiction slowly.
Likewise, patient can be kept in notice by letting his/her circle know about the addiction and request them to ensure the treatment after detoxification (Miller, et.al,(2011).
Conclusion
Detocification not always leads towards recovery but further measures need for full treatment and recovery. Patient can me made a part of a network that ensures his/her further treatment and guide that individual to join either self help groups or motivates to opt other recovery measures. You can motivate, vcan remain in contact with the patien or you can offer insentives to that patience to encourage that individual for further treatments.
