Culture And Behavior
Culture and behavior
Jose exhibits behavior issues as he engaged himself in the event of hitting peers and acted against the rules. Nancy also reveals the behavior of impulsivity and negative attitude towards peers. The analysis of the behaviors depicts that children need proper attention and care.
Cultural backgrounds have a significant impact on child behavior, so it is crucial to handle situations differently. To promote positive behavior, the teacher must use reward strategy. This is an effective tool for encouraging a positive attitude and behavior. When a child behaves well, the educator can reward him such as extra time for a break or chocolate. This will make Joe believe that every time he does good is rewarded with something good. Another strategy that a teacher can use is by adopting a compassionate behavior. Children belonging to low socio-economic status or minority culture demand more care. Giving attention to Joe during classroom and play will make him feel equally important. This will allow him to get rid of his negative attitude and feelings CITATION DAV14 \l 1033 (MURPHEY, GUZMAN, & TORRES, 2014).
In the case of Nancy, an appropriate approach is to encourage her to build a positive relationship with her class fellows and peers. The teacher can focus on building an effective relationship with her by evoking her feelings of self-esteem. Irrespective of her negative attitude the educator must not humiliate her to use harsh words that could future provoke feelings of negativity. It is important to make her feel part of class and school. The educator can convince her that she is equally important as other students by engaging her in different classroom activities. During group activity, she can be made a leader that will promote positive feelings. Similarly, the educator can ask questions during the lecture for building connectivity and continuous pace.
