Criminal Culture
Discuss the influence of community cultural factors on the formation of criminal behavior.
Studies have been done to research about some of the factors that may affect human behavior within a specific environment.
Socialization
This is the most important factor that counts during the childs development period. This is the time when the child is taught how to interact and act when with people. It is also the time when the child is taught on the rule and values of the community. An initial study stated that the children always learned to obey the rules in their community. This is because in case a child made a certain mistake, his or her action could be heavily followed by Sevier consequences. This is because when a child develops, he or she does not know that stealing is bad, therefore his life tutors ought to teach him the about the consequences that he might undergo in case he steals and advise the child that stealing is something that is no acceptable in the society. This child will, therefore, internalize the rules and make them be part of his or her life. Therefore, socialization is a period in life where morality and acceptable behaviors are instilled in a child through his development period. When a child is taught how to reinforce and instill good moral behaviors, the child will start exhibiting certain good behaviors in the future. And if he or she is not taught, he might have a bad effect and may lead to poor judgment towards some criminal behaviors.
Education
Studies have shown that the level of education of an individual plays a role in the manifestation of certain criminal behaviors. This is evidenced by, individuals who are known to be with certain disabilities are usually prone to some violent behaviors. In simple terms in todays society school is know is an area when good moral standards are taught and upheld and relevant professionalism is installed in children. It is also noticed that students or people with an average to high IQ usually have few tendencies to some criminal activities as compared to those with a low IQ. This is because those with a higher IQ are usually associated with academic achievements and therefore when done with the school are fixed with well-paying jobs and live a stable life while those with a lower IQ may not succeed academically and therefore end up being poor and unstable in life. This will contribute to the children engaging in criminal behavior so that they can fit in society.
How would Anderson and Cohen understate the process by which the community has an impact on criminal behavior
According or Anderson and Cohen. Several approximates of incapacitating who have been arrested as offenders are there. While the approximations are different in various magnitudes, the research frequently finds that to reduce crime within a given area, there has to be the incapacitation of policies that would reduce crime to an estimate of 30. For further crime reduction, there should be the introduction of alternative policies that are compared to the first ones that would set up strict consequences for anyone that has committed an offense these would include to up to a jail term of a period not less than five years for any crime committed within the jurisdiction. With the implementation of these alternative policies, there would be an increase in the number of convicts within a cell. This would intern reduce the number of crimes committed outside the cells. In another statement that Anderson and Cohens state is that if a small number of people who perform crime are incapacitated into the prisons that have limited resources for them to use. This approach will achieve variable incapacitation effects, therefore, avoiding several empirical problems that are caused by the sentencing policy.
