Why are we spending much of our money on clothing? I want to complain about the current issue that every one of us is facing in today. At college campuses, students are more concerned about their dressing and looks than their studies. I think this is inappropriate because this culture is having negative impacts on the student. We are becoming more materialistic and beauty conscious. The society in which we live influences our choices and decisions regarding dressing. Today we have more leisure in choosing their dresses because they are free from social constraints. The dressing is crucial for surviving in the current world when everyone is well aware of fashion and brands. Increased access to people to the internet and social media has increased the knowledge of people regarding dressing and fashion.

This culture is having negative impacts on every one of us. We are under constant pressures to look good because if we don't wear good dresses, we may fail to assimilate with others. Mental frustration and stress are also common adverse outcomes of this culture. Every one of us spends unnecessarily on clothing just to compete with others and survive in society. If you keep repeating the same dress some of your classmates will find an opportunity to humiliate you. The reason for dressing in such a way is to feel more confident, positive, powerful and stylish.

We make assumptions that wearing an outdated dress will create our negative impression. So society causes unnecessary pressure on choosing the right dressing. If you are wearing something that is outdated or not according to society’s expectations it makes you feel awkward.

There is a need for putting an end to this by adopting a simple philosophy of ‘we don't care.' Colleges must define a proper dressing code and discourage students from spending on expensive clothes. There can be policies such as imposing penalties on students who humiliate others or make offensive comments on the dressing.
