Justice
I agree that justice is not blind because judges are less influenced by external influences today. These influences no longer affect judges decisions and often promote their ability of making a fair judgment. The external factors that might affect decision of judges include financial gain, social or political influence. The practical role of one-day-one-trail jury system also depicts that the desirable attitudes are promoted among jurors that eliminate the possibilities for unfair decisions. I believe that the legal system is not partial today compared to past when it worked for the favor of the powerful and influential people. Everyone wants to remain part of jury and take important decisions. I think judges are not influenced in their decisions of sentencing criminals. I disagree that judges are influenced by the external factors which can be seen in discriminatory attitudes towards black suspects. The new one-day-one-trail jury system has played positive role in eliminating biases and partial attitudes of jurors. The jurors can become either part of one day or one trial.
The size of jury determines whether the fair and just results are achieved. State and federal courts can used six jury members. This is a practical technique used for eliminating thee biases and partial attitude of jurors. The composition and diversity has positive impact on promoting fairness of the jurors decisions. Since 1970 the federal and the state courts have announced 12-person jurors for creating diversity. This will encourage jurors to maintain their reputation by taking fair decisions. Size of jury is also important because it will restrict every single juror to take decisions based on their personal interest or gain. It is also claimed that reducing size of jurors below 6 is not reasonable because the changes for taking partial decisions increase in such situation.
