Lewis, T. (2007). Social inequality in education: A constraint on an American high-skills future. Curriculum Inquiry, 37(4), 329–349.
The article titled ‘Social inequality in education: A constraint in American high skills future' by Theodore Lewis is about how social inequalities impact over competition among global economies. The writer has focused over social inequalities and how educational inequalities. He argues that since change is the new notion of the world, and it is based on the blend of education and sharpness, therefore the societies must eliminate such stratification. He argues that social inequality arises from restricted educational facilities. For example, if any society, community or otherwise a group of people is denied the facilities of education, it will be disastrous for society and the state at large. His article revolves around the notion that how socioeconomics are becoming a cause for deprived educational facilities ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"3XhBBTx5","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Lewis, 2007)","plainCitation":"(Lewis, 2007)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":1591,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/8XI7FNK7"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/8XI7FNK7"],"itemData":{"id":1591,"type":"article-journal","title":"Social inequality in education: A constraint on an American high-skills future","container-title":"Curriculum Inquiry","page":"329–349","volume":"37","issue":"4","source":"Google Scholar","title-short":"Social inequality in education","author":[{"family":"Lewis","given":"Theodore"}],"issued":{"date-parts":[["2007"]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"} (Lewis, 2007). For Theodore, the economy is the backbone for state's survival. Therefore, the stakeholders in the United States must start giving it an acceptance. The author has highlighted many solutions in order to turn education as an agent for change. Different to many other researchers, Theodore has based his arguments entirely over socio0 economics. He has debated over the fact that how America must detach itself from the social stratification. The critics of him argue that socioeconomics is not always the affected area, rather many other social areas are affected by stratification in society.
Tannock, S. (2008). The problem of education-based discrimination. British Journal of Sociology
of Education, 29(5), 439–449
‘The problem of education-based discrimination' by Stuart Tannock highlights how society discriminates in the provision of education to masses. The writer has argued that since for many long, the societies have not treated education as a preference, therefore this created a space for discrimination in education. The state-led educational initiatives were too focused that it created a space between the opportunities in hand and the tasks ahead. According to him, as a result, education invokes legitimate inequality ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"6QM4iI0m","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Tannock, 2008)","plainCitation":"(Tannock, 2008)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":1589,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/SBKSRZ44"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/SBKSRZ44"],"itemData":{"id":1589,"type":"article-journal","title":"The problem of education-based discrimination","container-title":"British Journal of Sociology of Education","page":"439–449","volume":"29","issue":"5","source":"Google Scholar","author":[{"family":"Tannock","given":"Stuart"}],"issued":{"date-parts":[["2008"]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"} (Tannock, 2008). Other problems which the article mentions are discrimination of gender in education, the dominance of traditional ideologies over educational provisions and problems of meritocracy and of human capital. Tannock suggests that if state-owned educational facilities are expanded, new programs are able to get supervision and new fields of exploration are explored, the problem of education-based discrimination can be eliminated. His article presents a thorough study of the education-related problems and how discrimination is impacting education but the article has remained limited to traditional ideas about educational problems. The author's compilation of the facts, to some extent, remains contrary to the title suggested to this study.
Isakova, K., & Nazarbekova, R. (2011). Lack of education today-Unemployment tomorrow. International and Comparative Politics, Open Society Institute. Bishkek.
Isakova and Nazarbekova’s article ‘Lack of education today- Unemployment tomorrow' is about how less educational facilities hinder in the development of society. The authors have based their arguments on comparative analysis of different societies. They have created cluster sampling of some societies to witness the trends of unemployment. They argue that quantitative analysis of some specified time period and societies suggests that unemployment is a direct cause of lack of education ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"WCm5oL29","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Isakova & Nazarbekova, 2011)","plainCitation":"(Isakova & Nazarbekova, 2011)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":1587,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/VPFTADER"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/s8f0QVnP/items/VPFTADER"],"itemData":{"id":1587,"type":"article-journal","title":"Lack of education today-Unemployment tomorrow","container-title":"International and Comparative Politics, Open Society Institute. Since it limits the development opportunities of people and keeps them away from new happenings in research and development, therefore there are very fewer chances that people can make a place in job oriented market skills. The article suggests some innovative standards which can tailor the employment trends with educational circumstances. At some places in the article, the authors have contested the arguments of some researchers, which claim that unemployment is not linked with lack of education. The article reveals the considerable importance of exploring the spillover effects of lack of education. However, the random sampling might have not served the exact purpose of research in this article.
