Mindful leadership is one of the recurring themes of the work environment at organizations. This concept holds more significance in current age due the diverse work culture. The leaders have to manage employees and organizational activities that require mindfulness and intelligence. It leads to a question: is it possible to develop leadership through mindfulness training? Reitz and Chaskalson (2016) performed a research that included 57 business leaders for studying the impacts of mindfulness. The responses of the leaders confirmed that mindfulness is an essential part of leadership that improve its effectiveness. It is also important for leading individual challenges that a leader might encounter in the workplace. It is also important to determine what raining practices can be adopted for promoting mindfulness in leaders. Mindful training stresses on self-directed leadership that adds to the competency of solving critical situations. The role of mindful leaders is extremely demanded in dynamic and complex environments.
Mindfulness training emphasize on promoting self-awareness in leaders that allow them to realize their strengths and weaknesses. The purpose is to help them in overcoming their weaknesses by taking right steps. One of the prominent features of mindful leaders is managing emotions. They possess high emotional intelligence that reflects their ability of managing stress and negative feelings. This is important for taking right decisions by using their emotional strength. Emotional regulation is important for providing stress free workplace to the employees and determines negative conditions that could harm workers. Mindful leaders have developed the ability of treating employees with fairness. They do not discriminate on the basis of personal bias. This is due to the fact that they have trained to make best decisions that could lead to organizational gains. Empirical research reveals that emotional regulation is crucial for identifying gaps and for the successful management of the organization CITATION Sil19 \l 1033 (Rupprecht, Falke, Kohls, Tamdjidi, Wittmann, & Kersemaekers, 2019). It is focused on teaching meta-skills to the leaders that means they develop skills of handling multiple tasks and problems. They rely on out-of-the-box thinking, depicting that their perspectives are not limited.
Mindful interventions at workplace is a practical way of increasing productivity that leads to the attainment of organizational goals. Mindful training has positive impacts on the leadership capability of the leaders who are working in challenging situations. The common benefits include; ability of using critical thinking, taking efficient decisions, responding to conflicting issues and managing employees. by adopting mindful training organizations can create efficient leaders who can perform appropriately in diverse culture.
