Leadership questions
Was there a leader on your team? Who was it, and who decided who the leader would be?
Our leader was Claire, she assumed leadership because of his ability to make critical decisions in the activity; thus, all of us decided that she should head the team (In Yamamoto, 165). Clare kept reminding us of various rules and checking time for us. He also delegated duties to each one of us and gave us instructions in each step.
If you had a leader, how did he/she do? Of the leadership practices, we have learned so far, which did your leader use?
Claire can be said to demonstrate servant leadership (In Yamamoto, 253). This is because she did a huge part of the project and ensured each one of us kept the rules. He was also very much caring and responsible. She was authoritative and precipitative, as well. This greatly helped in developing a positive attitude towards the project
collaboration
How helpful was everyone on your team in challenging the process of building the tallest structure? Did anyone appear to be an expert?
Claire appeared to be an expert as she kept giving me amazing ideas on how to go about it until our time was over. She shared with me how to build stable structures. Our main ideas were to come up with two structures that would have supported each other so that our tower could be twice taller (In Yamamoto, 130). However, as time was running out, we realized our bottom tower was not in a position to support the second tower. Thus, we agreed to use only one tower for the marshmallow. At the end of the project, the height of our marshmallow was about 10.5. I realized that collaboration promotes exchanges of ideas.
Did any team members tune out of the activity — out of frustration with other members or for some other reason? What could you have done to keep all members of the group fully engaged?
The three of us set our timer for 18 minutes, and we began the project. However, one of us felt discouraged by the rigorous project, and he lost interest but me and Claire we kept pushing as we continued to encourage our other team member to keep participating.
Did you feel everyone's ideas were well received during the activity?
During the marshmallow, project time was important because it made us be able to work together quickly while the competition aspects made us do our best. Every one of us participated effectively.
Planning
How did you feel as the time limit was approaching? Did the pressure increase? If yes, was that helpful or not?
As time was approaching, we were doing our final touches, because we had managed our time effectively, the pressure increased as we were trying to make our tower stand to support the marshmallow.
In retrospect, what could you have done better to enhance your ability to Challenge the Process?
We would just have followed instructions by building one Tower; instead, we made two, which wasted our time.
Did you practice outsight? Where might new ideas have come from given your time constraint?
Yes, we practiced outsights while we also had a few discussions to come up with ideas.
Did you celebrate small wins? If yes, how did you do this?
We celebrated small wins by getting excited and clapping our hands in excitement.
