M6D1: Championship Coach
Leaders who choose to follow their vision and not the herd are always inspirational. There are very few leaders in the world that develop motivation in the people to achieve their goals and inspires them to do the extraordinary. Generally, in a corporate sector, financial gain is the only element employees take as motivation and inspiration and this is why the role of leadership is very important here. As the leaders have the influence to move the focus of their team from a small benefit to a much greater picture. Leadership skills like support, hard work, honesty, dedication and cooperation helps to make the mission inspiring for the employees (Dunne et al.,2016). They present the ideas and the goals in a way that it develops an interest in the team to carry out the actions that are necessary to become successful. Leaders focus more on how to communicate than on what to communicate when it comes to conveying their message to the group. Skills like integrity, inclusion, listening, and support make all the difference in the inspirational leader. He feels passionate about the vision and mission of the organization and also shares them with his team (Murnieks et al.,2016).
There are many leaders that emerged to recognition in the world but more or less they spent the significant part of their lives in struggles whether it be Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King or Steve Jobs. All of them were known to be dedicated to achieving their goals and had a clear vision in eyes. This is why people today related leadership with education and experience which makes it hard for the young people to avail this platform. We naturally began to assume that this role is not for us and a mature and aged person should be given this position. Theo Nathaniel Epstein surprises us here by proving that at the young of 28 he managed to inspire many people through his extraordinary leadership skills. Theo is the current President of Baseball Operations for Chicago Cubs. He is also the youngest general manager who was hired in 2002 at the age of 28. He transformed the Chicago Cubs and helped them win the World Series through continuous motivation, support, and guidance (Gould, 2017). He has a relatively different approach to leadership as compared to his contemporaries. He believes in discipline, character and does not rely on statistics-driven data. His empathetic attitude and extensive support for his team make him an inspirational leader for all the athletes.
